Happy Mother's Day

Weekly Rundown

Each week I will post the content from the workshop to our website weekly rundown section. This is to show parents that could not attend, and others, what we did each week.

Week 1: Welcome Night

During this week, I explained my project and what parents could expect. We got to know each other and ended the night with scripture and prayer. Following our workshop, we ate together at CiCi's Pizza.

Week 2: Love Yo'Self

Week 2 Participants Working.jpg

This week we learned all about the importance of self care as a parent. Parents discussed their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to prioritizing their mental health.

Parents did a Self Care Activity where they colored and wrote different ways they can fill their cup every day. They also received a folder full of resources.

Week 3: Co-Parenting and Building Community

Week 3 Picture with Volunteer.jpg

Everyone knows the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child". This week was designed to learn about raising a child with someone else. Parents learned from a sucessful co-parent as she shared her top five do's and dont's of co-parenting.

We also discussed the importance of a community. Not everyone is born into one, so we discussed ways to build one if you do not have one.

We ended the night talking about ways to improve our communication with our parenting partner.

Week 4: Parent's Night Out

Parenting is one of the hardest jobs out there. Being a young parent comes with its own special struggles.

This week was dedicated to celebrating these hardworking parents. We enjoyed Mexican food, an encouraging activity, music, and lots of good discussion.

Week 5: Christian Parenting

Praying In a Church

A key aspect to my project is sharing my Christian faith. I firmly believe that without God, I would not be here today. I would not be the growing and successful mother I am today.

Parents Robyn Manke and Paul McIntyre share their insight as Christian parents.

We shared personal testimonies and learned about having a Christian family.

Week 6: Fellowship Night

Praise and Hands Raised

Parents join together to celebrate all they have learned while worshipping God and playing games.
